Cub Traveller: Top 5 reasons to Buy It - Cub Campers

Top 5 reasons to buy a Cub Traveller

22 June 2016

The 2016 Cub Traveller (formerly the Supamatic Escape) is one of our most popular on-road camper trailers. The Traveller is perfect for families and couples who want a reliable on-road Aussie-made camper trailer; here are our five top reasons why:

Roomy, yet still compact

When closed, the Traveller body is just 2.55 metres long, but it opens out to over 5 metres of internal space. So while it’s still small and light enough (600 kg tare weight) to be towed behind a mid-sized car, the Traveller has 20% more floor space than the Weekender. So there’s plenty of room for internal storage, or to throw down an extra swag, or set up some bunk beds.

Choice of queen or single beds

The spacious layout of the Traveller means that you can choose whether to fit-out your camper with a queen-size lift-up bed, or two single beds. The Traveller is one of the only hard floor camper trailers on the market that comes with this option. And let’s face it, if you’re on the road for a long time, having some personal space in bed can be a godsend! And because there’s plenty of extra floor space, you can travel with friends or bring the kids: just BYO bunks beds or swags.

A holiday house on wheels

So you want the experience of camping in the great outdoors, but you also want some home comforts. The Traveller comes equipped with a Smev two-burner outdoor stainless steel cooktop as standard, as well as loads of storage for all your favourite condiments, your cutlery, plates and glasses – just like any holiday house would. There’s plenty of storage space under the bed and if you want even more storage space, you can choose the optional extra of three different types of cupboards at the foot of the bed: standard with drawers or doors, or a trunk-style locker box with cushion that doubles as a seat.

Option-up to build your dream camper trailer

While there are lots of great features included as standard in the Traveller, there are even more optional extras to choose from – create your ideal travelling companion! Choose from a variety of drawbar layouts – different toolboxes, gas bottle and jerry can combinations – or upgrade to electric or override brakes. Add a pole carrier – great for fishing rods or annexe poles – or a Projecta battery pack with monitor. Or, if you’re travelling with more than two people, add a divider wall to create two separate bedrooms!

The accidental off-roader

We are able to keep the Traveller spacious, light and affordable because it is designed to be used on sealed roads. Cub is proud of our off-road range of camper trailers, which includes the award-winning Brumby but “off-road” has also become a bit of a buzzword. We figure that if you don’t plan to tackle the Telegraph Track, you probably don’t need a full off-road camper trailer. Then again, getting to those pristine camping spots may mean travelling through national parks, on corrugated dirt roads, or sandy tracks. The Transcontinental Pack upgrade for $999 gives you that little bit of extra flexibility in terms of road surfaces, but adds only 50kg of extra weight!
