After hours of driving, I was ready for a break and set my sights on Trangie. About 15 minutes from town, I phoned ahead to check on room availability. The cheerful voice on the other end assured me, “Of course, we have a room!”

He and two mates had bought the place when it was up for sale, driven by a vision to make the Imperial a fantastic spot for people to gather. Pretty soon I had been introduced to most of the locals in the pub and the two other owners and learnt so much about this town.
