The 2018 Cub Frontier Makes its Debut and turns heads!

22 March 2018

As with all things at Cub in the countdown to the end of the year, everything starts to move at a pace. This was definitely the case in the run up to the new industry CIA show at Homebush, that Cub supported in Nov 2017.

One of the huge benefits of manufacturing camper trailers in your own factory in North Rocks, NSW is that you can listen to your customers feedback, work closely as a team and turn around a new camper trailer in a matter of weeks and get it to the show on time – and that’s exactly what we did!

And that wasn’t all. We were then able to enter the new Frontier forward fold 2018 model into the Camper Trailer Australia Magazine Awards 2018. Matt (our resident video celebrity) was lucky enough to be on the track to put the Frontier through its paces as part of the award judging weekend.

On the road with Matt…

Heading off from Cub HQ to the beautiful rainforest regions of Mt Warning in the hills behind Murwillumbah the Frontier snaked its way up the Pacific Highway towards the camper trailer awards event. It had been raining quite a bit and there was an expectation that due to the amount of water in the area that it would be slippery and muddy – the perfect testing ground for the Cub. The Frontier was in its element.

On arrival at the camp ground first things first I caught with some old friends and then straight to it. It didn’t really stop from there. After the public showcase event at Tweed Heads where we all displayed our best, we were put onto the test track for some off-road filming, stalked by a drone and judged at every stage along the way. Then we roughed it back through the cane fields. No rest for the wicked, we were up early again the next day for off-road testing (as if the cane fields weren’t enough) in the tracks around the beautiful Misty Mountain, putting the Frontier suspension to the ultimate test.

Then just as I thought it was all over…. We were first up for the walk through videos and external and internal judging by the panel and the Frontier was wearing a layer of mud! All good fun.

Check out what the judges thought…

The Frontier made the shortlist and the Cub team joined the Adventures Team at their awards night.
