The Great Ocean Road truly is breathtaking, and by staying in one of these camping spots, you’ll be making the absolute most of your upcoming trip…
Cumberland River Holiday Park
This idyllic park is located close to Lorne, just off the Great Ocean Road. If you fancy a stay looking out on a sparkling river with dramatic rock features and fantastic greenery, then you should definitely consider stopping by this camping site on your upcoming journey. With shower and water facilities and around about 80 unpowered sites on offer, this lush location is precisely what you need to just decompress and enjoy being still. Park facilities also include a payphone, barbeques, a snack kiosk, washer and dry and a children’s playground. Stroll a few minutes to a private beach, set off on an invigorating bushwalk, spend time fishing, birdwatching and surfing the day away at Cumberland River.
Marengo Holiday Park
If you’re pining for a powered campsite that’s perfect for setting up the camper and taking in the beautiful scenery, you should look no further than Marengo Holiday Park! This clean, organised location can accommodate your kids, mates and even your furry friends, too. Enjoy the surf, sand, bush, grass and rainforest all at the one pristine campground – what more could you ask for? Untouched beaches are just a few minutes away, promising endless surfing, fishing, swimming and fun. Powered sites are 6 X 8 metres, so a more compact camper such as Cub’s Weekender should do the trick. If you have a slightly more robust camper on your hands, there are options for larger sites at request.
Wye River Foreshore Camping Reserve
This coastal gem is open between September and April each year, so keep an eye on when you’re planning your trek down the Great Ocean Road if you fancy a stay at Wye River. Unfortunately, there are only about 60 powered and precisely 4 unpowered sites on offer, so you’ll need to book nice and early in order to secure your spot! Wake up with the incredible Sandy Beach at your front door, get some serious fishing in and explore the surrounding bushlands for some awesome animal spying. Wye is the perfect base when you’re venturing along the Great Ocean Road. Amenities include flushing toilets, showers, a washer and dryer, kitchens and barbeques – just to name a few!
