Whether you’re packing up for a long weekend or you’re planning a longer trip with a few stops along the way, Freycinet National Park is a must-visit. From family friendly activities to amazing experiences with friends or fellow campers and some great ways to spend moments alone, this list will arm you with plenty of ideas, inspiration and information to pack your next trip full of unforgettable moments out in the great outdoors.

Good to know before you go

Before you sink your teeth into your camping schedule, there’s a few things that are good to know and prepare before you hitch your camper up and head to the magic and mystery of Tasmania’s Freycinet National Park.

The visitor centre

Locating your information source is key to any good camping trip, particularly when you’re heading to such an iconic location as Freycinet. You’ll find the visitor centre in the main entrance to the parks, with plenty of information about the cultural heritage within the vicinity, as well as friendly staff, useful resources and ideas for your trip. If you’re visiting during peak season, there’s also the option for guided walks and cultural tours if you’re looking to give your staff a bit of an insider’s edge.

Facilities

Freycinet is great for amenities that help to bring that extra bit of creature comfort to your camping trip. You’ll find electric barbecues, picnic benches and public toilets at both Honeymoon Bay and Ranger Creek. As well as bathroom facilities located in the Car Park for the Walking Tracks area. You won’t find showers, bins or campfire pits in the park and sites are unpowered. It’s caravan, camper trailer and tent friendly.

Basic resources

Keep in mind that while you will find some drinking water, the National Park’s supply of fresh water is quite scarce. Pack plenty of water bottles and fill them up as you enter the visitor centre to prepare yourself and your fellow campers properly right out of the gate. There are drinking water taps at both Honeymoon Bay and the Wineglass Bay Walking Tracks car park. Arm yourself with a water filtration system in your camper trailer for peace of mind over the duration of your entire trip, you’ll never have to worry about your water supply again so it’s a brilliant highly worthwhile investment.

The right gear

Speaking of investment. The right camper trailer will unlock your adventures for you and whoever you bring along for the ride, time and time again. If you’re hunting for the ideal small-to-medium car companion, then look no further than Cub Camper’s signature Weekender model. This will house up to 2 people, and can be towed by medium sized SUVs and smaller cars with the capacity for some more tame off road driving, too. This is a convenient, lightweight camper that gives you everything you need for your next getaway. The light nature of the build makes it the perfect companion for your trip to everything waiting for you at Freycinet National Park.
