Improvements on the Cub Escape

14 July 2022

The Escape has been one of our staple Rear Fold campers since 2016. It’s a popular off-road Cub model perfect for couples or families wanting more room to move. Research and development are core values here at Cub and over the last six years we’ve gathered and listened to the feedback from customers to make sure that we’re always moving forward.

The improvements we’ve made to the Escape will level up your next camping adventure. These will apply to all new Escape orders. So let’s have a look at these changes:

The first thing you’ll notice is the tent and awning has been upgraded to match the Frontier. This tent redesign sees an improvement in airflow and light through the addition of upper quarter windows on either side of the camper. With the awning now zipped across the top of the tent you can feel confident that it will handle all sorts of weather conditions.

The Escape’s drawbar now matches that of the Frontier. It’s made from 150mm x 50mm x 3.0mm Australian steel, this will get you to and from the most rural and remote outback locations. An extra clamp on the drawbar has been added to allow you to attach the jockey wheel when towing. We understand the importance and value of storage space within your camper and vehicle, this additional clamp will help free up that space whilst on your trip. Outside of the camper we’ve improved the design of the roof rack and pole carrier. We’ve also upgraded tie down points on the roof rack. The kitchen track has been powder coated to improve its durability and longevity.

The suspension has been upgraded on the Escape with twin shock absorbers now as standard. This is to give you more confidence to travel long distances on corrugated outback roads. We’ve increased the ATM on the Escape to 1900kg which is nearly 300kg greater capacity than the previous model. This allows for a payload capacity of approximately 800kg which is unheard of in a rear fold camper.

A lithium battery now comes standard on the Escape which allows you to put your best foot forward when camping off grid. In terms of power and lighting, we want you to feel right at home even when you’re in remote locations. The 100ah lithium battery is lighter, has a longer lifespan and has a greater charging efficiency compared to the AGM battery used previously. We’ve also equipped a 12V Master Switch and 12V resettable fuse for the fridge to ensure that you have full control over the power in the camper.

Inside the camper we’ve added the internal front canvas window which allows you to close the window from inside in the case of inclement weather. The bedroom privacy screen also comes standard inside the Escape. The inner-spring mattress has been replaced by the Slumberest Cloud 9 Pillow Top mattress to ensure maximum comfort as you camp. A two-drawer cupboard with a seat cushion is now standard to allow for more storage, organisation, and seating within your camper.

We’ve added three LED sensor lights to the new Escape – one under the bed, in the fridge box and the other in the driver’s side locker – these automatically switch on when accessing these areas. The driver’s side locker also now comes equipped with a 12V Accessory/ twin USB socket. We have replaced all merit plug sockets to accessory plugs within the camper. The warm coloured LED light across the kitchen area now comes standard on the camper. Finally, we’ve also added a Fusion Stereo with twin speakers because nothing adds to the atmosphere of a remote campsite like your favourite songs playing in the background as you relax around the campfire.

New option packs will be available for the Escape, please contact your closest Cub representative for more information.
